"Sunday Sweets" ('Simply Stunning')
Its finally here! The 2011/12 Spring/Summer Wedding Season is upon us and we are seeing some beautiful design ideas being incorporated into this season's wedding cakes.
So, what's hot this season?
1. Bling on Cakes - Brides are choosing tasteful sparkling effects for their cakes, often inspired by wedding stationery and reception room decoration. The idea is to keep it tasteful, and keep the inedible rocks OFF the cake surface, so as to avoid your guests breaking a tooth accidentally!
2. Lustred and metallic cake surfaces - Whether its pure gold or silver leaf, or coloured metallic, or even a subtle glow from an airbrush spray of edible luster, brides are loving the shiny and glowing effect of metal-on-cake!
3. Stencilling and intricate piping or painting - Best used on one or two tiers as a 'feature', a rich damask or flowery vine design can add that wow factor to your cake.
4. Accent flowers - Less is more, but what you have is HUGE! We are seeing more use of one or two extra large sugar blooms, custom-made to suit the wedding colour scheme Think peonies, full-blown roses and groups of small identical blooms, like hydrangeas.
5. Presentation - Put your cake on a pedestal. Whether you are incorporating a dessert/sweets bar or having your cake presented on its own, an elegant, single pedestal stand can really make a statement with your cake on top!
6. Individual personality - Don't be afraid of being unique! Work with your designer to create a cake as individual as you are. Why not add in a theme that says everything about you as a couple?

Well, the cake was a complete success. As was the party. We celebrated into the wee hours of Sunday morning, great fun.
Everyone commented on h...ow fantastic the cake looked and then we we cut and handed it out all we could hear was "OMG this is sooooo good", "hmmmmmmm, oooh, yum, yum", "this is the best cake I've ever tasted"... We agree! Mark and I absolutely loved it along with everyone else.
Mandi told me that you made it a bit bigger so that it would look better, thank you very much for that, it really did taste as good as it looked. Even the black icing tasted great.
I have given you card and email to a few people who will definitely be in contact with you. I can't recommend you highly enough. Again Eva I can't praise your beautiful cake and expert skills enough.

Dear Eva,
I just wanted to say thank you very much for the beautiful job you did with Zachary's christening cake - it looked gorgeous and tasted even better! Most importantly Zachie loved it - as you can see from the photos we let him touch it just before we cut it as it had him intrigued (as well as all the other children in the restaurant!)
We received lots of compliments regarding the cake from family and other patrons at Noah's. The maitre d' also asked where the cake was from and we gave him one of your cards. So there may be some more work coming your way :)

The figurines arrived this week in one piece and we got them on Sunday. We love them to pieces. They are so unbelievably perfect. The detail is incredible. We have put them on our wine cabinet in our kitchen - they are holding hands. :)

All I can say is Oh My Goodness!! Our wedding cake was truly AMAZING!! Thank thank thank you so very very much for all your hard work and effort! It was exactly what we wanted and more! Everyone was in awe of our cake and couldnt believe it was real and that we could actually eat it! We didnt want to cut it, but we have plenty of photos to remember it, and the toppers are awesome! We just want to say thank you again for your massive effort to produce such an awesome cake! So much time must have gone into it to get all the little details, like the starfish, and the colours on the waves, and the cake toppers! All were so awesome and much appreciated! The photos you have taken are so amazing! The photographer on the night took millions from all different angles, and I am pretty sure almost everyone at the ceremony took photos as they couldnt belive it was a cake! It was so delicious as well, everyone commented how yummy it was, and most went back for seconds! Thank you again!
